Home (from Home) - Featuring the JYC GLOBAL FAMILY

The Jerusalem Youth Chorus, an Israeli-Palestinian music and dialogue project, brought together all-star musicians and singers from around the world to join them in a song of solidarity and welcome in an isolating time - each from their own home. We are excited to collaborate this coming summer with the masterminds behind this project, Micah Hendler and Justin Willacy at Raise Your Voice Labs. This summer, CommonChord Project will work with them to create a professional music-video based an collaboratively written song. Give a listen!

CommonChord Project - JULY, 2019

During the Summer Intensive, the group watched and discussed the video below by our friends at Soul Pancake, “What Defines Your Generation?”

Stemming from these conversations, the CommonChord group collectively wrote and performed this original song, IT’S GOTTA BE US.

(Not a small task with a large group in a short period of time!).

Claudia SchMidt, Visiting Artist

In October, members of the 2019 Cohort spent an afternoon with acclaimed singer-songwriter, Claudia Schmidt before the CommonChord House Concert. In just an hour, the group collectively wrote this song inspired by a conversation about nature as a source of creativity. Claudia’s prompts to the group: river, mountain, tree.

ATZ KILCHER, Visiting Artist

In December, we were honored to host Alaskan renaissance man, Atz Kilcher for an intimate gathering of songs and stories from his remarkable life. Having the CommonChord songwriters in the audience was especially profound for him. What a great night of mutual admiration and inspiration!
